Six Flags Magic Mountain posted via Facebook an announcement to all fans that Deja Vu's last day would be Sunday, October 16. That provides anyone hoping to say bye-bye to the beloved boomerang a good month or so to do so. But with the release of the closing date, ERT had also been mentioned. Every Sunday beginning this Sunday and ending October 16, guests with paid admission who stop by Guest Relations can pick up an ''after-hours'' pass for some Deja Vu Exclusive Ride Time (ERT) for that night. Though no more details were addressed like how long it was to be for, they did note while supplies last which limits the number of ERT participants. So, long story short, get out and ride!

This should serve as warning to all those park visitors who choose to leave their pets and dogs inside their cars. A woman was planning to take her Pomeranian dog into the park in her pet bag. However, after learning it ripped, she decided to leave it in her car. Security rescued the dog from the car, transferred it to the kennel, where a worker had left the door to the kennel open. That's when the dog escaped. Security does break into cars with pets in them occasionally, and puts them into the kennel. But for good reason.. Valencia gets extremely hot. Save your pet the trouble and don't take it with you to the park. Or at least take it to the free kennel unlike this particular woman.
Our good friends over at SFMMCrazy Productions were able to dig up the 2011 Fright Fest Line-Up days before Magic Mountain is to officially release their Fright Fest website on the 14th. Doing the math, 9 mazes (3 new) and 4 scare zones do indeed total to 13 as seen on the official coupons for October at Magic Mountain. MazesWarehouse 13- Returning for 2011, Warehouse 13 will turn Log Jammer's queue house into a toxic wasteland. Willoughby's Haunted Mansion- The maze said to have started it all, in it's prime location up top Samurai Summit in Magic Pagoda's location. BITE II- This maze was new for 2010 as a sequel to BITE. Centered around a vampire theme on Samurai Summit. Asylum- Another Fright Fest veteran that was located under the High Sierra Territory monorail station with lots of chain link fences and crazies. Lecter's Slaughterhouse- This maze used to reside where Green Lantern is behind the old dance club facades.. But with Green Lantern's existence, we'll have to see what they do with this one. Jokester's Hideout- The only 3D maze in Fright Fest involving endless clowns where Flashback used to be. Aftermath- NEW For 2011 Cursed- NEW For 2011 Chupacabra- NEW For 2011 Scare ZonesCity Under Siege- Loads of lunatics in DC Universe. Exile Hill- Bizarre creatures up top Samurai Summit. Gypsy Hollow- NEW For 2011 The Wastelands- NEW For 2011 Hillbilly Massacre- NEW For 2011 This really gets me pumped for Fright Fest. Before you ask, Magic Mountain releases their Fright Fest information via the new website on September 14 (which by the way is supposedly the largest). Anyway, Six Flags just released their first Fright Fest themed website featuring witty information, detailed backgrounds and back stories on the mazes and attractions. The parks are definitely taking a major turn on the event this year. For one, Discovery Kingdom now offers 5 mazes compared to year's past of having only a few. The parks are also renaming most or if not all of their major rides' names to fit the event better as well as adding a backstory to them. The only mystery we haven't cracked is if the backstories and new titles hint at possible theming in the queues. After all, numerous of them indicate that something or someone is ''beneath'' the ride or along those lines. Whatever it is, it's a big step for Six Flags in growing Fright Fest for years to come. Besides.. This fits a lot better than one solitary page on the standard site overviewing everything. If anything, I'd rate this higher than Cedar Fair's Haunt sites only because of the extra attention to detail (don't get me wrong; there's is cool as well). Fright fest site >>Fright Fest is lurking around the corner with a little over a month to go before the event begins. Throughout this month, you will start to see more and more decorations as crews prepare for Fright Fest. Strolling the park yesterday afternoon, we happened to spot A LOT of Jack-O-Lantern lampheads and the very first sign advertising Fright Fest near Log Jammer. On another note, this year's Fright Fest event is being speculated to be one of the largest. Coupons like those below have been going around advertising 13 mazes (2 new) and scare zones. Magic Mountain has yet to release news of any attractions for this year's event however.
This morning, Magic Mountain made the big announcement about Lex Luthor: Drop Of Doom via the Go Big Cam. And it's out of the bag! EARLY? The release of the much-anticipated mystery attraction for 2012 was leaked this evening reportedly by the LA Times along with the other Six Flags attractions like X-Flight for Great America, Superman: Ultimate Flight Sky Loop for Discovery Kingdom and Apocalypse for Six Flags America. The new ride which is to be called: Lex Luther- Drop Of Doom will be installed onto the sides of Superman: Escape From Krypton's current tower. The 8-passenger car will lift riders up to the peak of the tower at 415ft. and freefall them back down at an estimated 85 mph. With the construction of the ride, Superman will most likely have to close temporarily while Lex Luther is in the production stages. Either this, or Six Flags could sync construction to off-season closed days but this is unlikely. Some slate this to be the world's tallest and fastest drop tower up against the mirror clone in Australia; The Tower Of Terror. At a drop from this height we could only imagine how intense the ride will be only to add on the fact that Superman will be running alongside it. The seat nearest the tracks should be cool then, right? Though it's ashame Six Flags couldn't fulfill their September 1st announcement hype, this sure does excite most Magic Mountain fans who've been waiting for such an addition for a while now. The whereabouts of Deja Vu are still unknown and unconfirmed officially. For now, the coaster is still in rumors but Magic Mountain is yet to make a statement. They'll most likely use the space in 2013 anyway. We'll have to put that aside for now, while we wait for more follow-ups and updates. Stay tuned for more announcements and more from Planet SIX as the wonderous off-season fast approaches as well as Fright Fest... With a cool Planet SIX twist. Above: the leaked teaser of lex luther: Drop of doom.Excited?
Deja Vu is to be removed in October of this year after the L.A Times confirmed that the coaster was moving to Six Flags New England. This means that Magic Mountain is left with a tie with Cedar Point and no ''coaster crown'' and a bigger plot of land to work with for a new attraction. Magic Mountain fans seemed to be the most in denial about these rumors when they first surfaced sometime back.
Being that New England already has a Vekoma boomerang style coaster, Deja Vu seemed like an unlikely candidate for the park. Magic Mountain has yet to make an announcement about the move, though most fans are anticipating sometime in September- probably on Facebook. On the other side of the country, Six Flags New England will also release official word of the new coaster for 2012 in September; speculated for Sept. 1. The rumors all began when the Massachusetts park mysteriously removed Shipwreck Falls- a mirror version of Tidal Wave. Planning markers were seen on site and numerous accounts from New England enthusiasts that Deja Vu was to be theirs were made. No one is all that sure what the successor of Deja Vu for Magic Mountain will be; if anything in 2012, but seeing how the news of Deja Vu surprised us all to be true, anything is possible at this point. I'd almost see a flat ride coming in before a coaster next, but maybe with the recent ride rotation program making a return, we might get lucky. In a recent news article posted by a Massachusetts site, Six Flags New England is preparing for what will be dubbed for the park as a "Giant Inverted Boomerang". Rumors and speculations have been circling Magic Mountain's Deja Vu- maybe relocating to the New England park this year. Six Flags New England recently removed Shipwreck Falls, their equivalent to Tidal Wave here in California for a replacement attraction. Site markers have been spotted by numerous New England visitors which lead them to believe that California's Deja Vu will indeed be theirs soon enough. While this might not exactly mean that Magic Mountain's Deja Vu would be the GIB that Massachusetts receives, the recent ride rotation seeming to be making a return, makes me highly doubt Six Flags would purchase an entirely new giant inverted boomerang. According to the article, Six Flags still must meet up with the Planning Board on Thursday to approve of the initial site and take a vote for the addition to the park. "We are extremely excited about what we are going to do." said Jennifer Mance, director of sales and marketing at Six Flags New England. We assume Magic Mountain will make an official announcement if true shortly whether or not Deja Vu is in fact leaving.
Look what we stumbled upon! Michael Jackson's kids visited Magic Mountain last week being seen throughout the park. This is the first time the kids have took a trip to the park being sheltered from the public during most of their lives before. According to sources, they once were expected to visit Six Flags years ago, but were later cancelled on by the park itself. Prince Michael with girlfriend, Niki Berger, Blanket Jackson, Paris Jackson, Cousin Jaafar and Jermagesty strolled the park while riding notable rides like the all-new Superman and Deja Vu. |
